Our approach
Hulme & Associates was established in March 1998 and focuses on projects that require a high level of design input and specialized site monitoring. Regardless of its size, each project and problem is analyzed uniquely to ensure that the most appropriate and economical solution is conceived, developed and documented. We look to be innovative and pro-active and our hands-on approach and attention to detail allows us to work closely with clients and other professionals to produce optimum engineering solutions.
We maintain close links with top lecturers at both Stellenbosch University and Cape Tech to ensure that we remain abreast with any new developments in material science or design codes. Our relationship with the professionals at these institutions also allows us to have designs reviewed and critically assessed which constantly contribute to our professional development.
All our relationships are conducted without prejudice and every person and firm we interact with is treated equally, irrespective of race, gender or religion.
Our practice size and working arrangements mean that we are able to efficiently respond to the demands of all projects. Designs are executed with the most appropriate materials and we have experience with reinforced & prestressed concrete, structural steel, timber and masonry.
Our experience covers a broad range and we are as comfortable at providing fine, detailed, structural input for specialized balustrades and stairs as we are for providing the structure for jetty restoration or support work for bridge construction.
As part of our continuing professional development, we stay abreast of new techniques and practices to ensure that all of our projects are cognizant of their environmental footprint. A careful evaluation is made of all proposed building materials to ensure appropriate choices. Re-use and recycling of building materials is encouraged wherever possible and we work closely with other professionals to minimize the impact of the project.
